Ruth & Naomi was honored to help sponsor the 2017 Iron Horse Ride-a-Thon for Special Olympics. Iron Horse provides therapeutic horseback riding and equine-assisted activities for children and adults with physical, cognitive and emotional disabilities by PATH-certified instructors. Each year, they take their riders to the Special Olympics and the Rid-a-Thon helped raise money to enable them to pay for the trip. 

From 9am on Saturday morning, all day, through the night, and until 9am Sunday morning, someone was riding a horse NON-STOP! It was sure a sight to see! Children and adults of all ages and abilities were enjoying the beautiful weather and pony rides! 
The event included multiple sponsors as well as a silent auction. We were proud to help Iron Horse raise the funds they needed to head to the Special Olympics.

Ruth & Naomi is officially OPEN! 
Last weekend we were blessed beyond measure as our local community of friends and family gathered for the Ruth & Naomi Launch Party! 
The event was truly magical! Guests were greeted with food and beverage and anxiously awaited the start of our Tween Fashion Show! The fashion show was a HUGE hit! The models were dressed in some of our favorite Fall fashions from brands like Hudson, Splendid, Ragdolls & Rockets, Chaser, PPLA, Rosie G and more! 
 

 
Our goal of the evening was to let the tweens SHINE, take the lead, and share why they are BE-YOU-TIFUL! The fashion show was led by the Ruth & Naomi Girls of the Season, Alexandra. Her sweet kindness was on fire as she introduced each girl and their outfit. 

Immediately after the fashion show, the Moms and daughters were ready to SHOP and SHOP THEY DID! Wow, what a blessing! It was an absolute joy to watch them dive in and fall in love with so many of our styles and brands. The lines didn't die down until around 10pm and to say we were tired was an understatement. The time and energy we put into the evening was worth every minute to experience the smiles and joy of the sweet girls and their Moms enjoying themselves. 

As we move into the next phase of our business, we want to thank everyone that has helped us along the way. Laura and I will continue to work diligently to provide a safe place for every tween and their parent(s) to shop.

Ruth and Naomi is so much more than just a Tween boutique, it’s a movement.  

A call to action, if you will, that is calling all Tween aged girls to put others first and really realize what it is to be a Be-You-tiful girl. I am a proud mom of a tween aged girl and I can see firsthand that these beautiful girls are faced with many challenges these days.  Our dream is to create an environment that empowers girls to dream big while doing good for the community around them.

We also love to encourage girls to celebrate what makes them unique.  For instance, my daughter, Sofia is a 10-year-old softball enthusiast!  She absolutely loves to play softball.  She looks up to Jenny Finch who played for the USA team in the World Olympics.  Her best friend has a truly amazing love for horses and basically anything to do with the equestrian life. How awesome it is that these girls can share and celebrate their stories about their passions with each other, without any jealousy. This is just one of the reasons that makes them truly unique.

I also see, as a mom of a tween girl; there is a real struggle to keep these girls young at heart. Not only with their attitudes, but also with their wardrobe. I feel for every mom who takes her daughter shopping to find nothing but headaches, and some heartaches, with the lack of choices. The clothing often times is too “young” or WAY to “mature."
What happened to the tween aged clothing market? Our goal at Ruth and Naomi is to help elevate those stresses for both the tween girl and her mom.

BACK TO SCHOOL BASICS 

It's time for new teachers, new friends and most importantly, NEW FALL FASHION!
In today's blog post, we will be reviewing the back to school checklist you will need to be first day ready!  
Start this school year with a few simple pieces and build your outfits from there. While trends are fun, having a closet filled with them does not make a wardrobe. Look through your closet and make sure you are ready for back to school with this list of basics. 

1. JEANS
No matter what your age or size, a fantastic pair of denim jeans are a girls best friend! Wear them with sneakers, booties or knee high boots to change up your outfit! 

2. PLAIN COTTON TEE OR TANK
White, black and a few colored tanks and tees are necessary to layer to make the perfect outfit! Wear it time and time again with jeans, dress pants, under dresses, and to keep warm when it gets a little chilly.

3. JACKETS 
Be sure to get a jacket that is lightweight and easy to layer. It can begin to be chilly at the bus stop in the mornings and for some reason the school still has the air conditioning on, so a light jacket is a must! We have hand picked some simple, solid and sweet options - CLICK HERE!  
 

4. SIMPLE SNEAKERS

5. ACCESSORIES
A girls BEST accessory is her SMILE, but a fun headband and a trendy necklace never hurt either :) Keep the accessories simple. Stone, glass, suede, and pearl. However, HAVE FUN with the headbands! Dress up those basic tees with a fun striped, floral or paisley headband. We have chosen some that have been girl approved!
